No more synthetic Fields without

community consultation

In July 2024 a motion repealing a three-year moratorium on synthetic fields was put to Bayside Council asking for a report into establishing three new all-weather soccer fields in Mascot, Pagewood and Kingsgrove. 

 

We have heard the concerns from our community about:

✳️ Microplastics from synthetic fields, especially in a flood zone;

✳️ Flooding impacts of removing more soft surfaces that absorb rain;

✳️ Environmental impact of heat island effect;

✳️ Increased usage and removal of other recreational uses of our green playing fields by only catering to one organised sport.

 

Sign the petition to ask for the investigation into repairing worn soccer fields to also cover the options for modern natural turf fields, and requesting further community consultation.​​​
