Meet Heidi Lee Douglas
Before becoming your Ward 5 Councillor, I founded the Peaceful Bayside Action Group in 2020 to push for safer streets in Bayside. I've been an active member of my children's school P & C, and of our local community garden. I am the CEO of a not-for-profit organisation that enables more Australians to get access to the cost of living and environmental benefits of renewable energy and clean transport. I am also an award-winning film and television director and the mother of two boys. I enjoy playing pickleball, gardening, bushwalking and kayaking.
Meet Andrea Jackson
I live in an apartment in Sans Souci with my partner and toddler. I am passionate about making Bayside liveable, sustainable and vibrant for all age groups and cultures. I am proud to have been awarded a Mayoral Award for my work in establishing and running the Sans Souci Community Veggie Patch.
I'm co-leading a campaign for the Kamay Greenway, a visionary active transport corridor from Kyeemagh to Sandringham that could connect our parks and sport fields, revitalise our waterways, and highlight historical and cultural landmarks. I want to ensure that all residents have access to the beach, public transport and local shops and community spaces like community gardens. As a professional designer, I am also passionate about finding ways to support local makers, entrepreneurs, artists, and creative businesses in Bayside.
Meet Jennifer Pelizar
Increasing access to community and services is important to me. I am on the working group for the Disability Inclusion Action Plan at Bayside Council, in the hope of making all green and community spaces more accessible. I have worked in health and social services most of my career, but it was in my 50s that I returned to study and gained the degree that led me to counselling.
During Covid, I was counselling people in aged care. Now I have a private practice, taking an holistic approach to mental health care. I work with people not just about their daily struggles, but also about the benefits of connection with community, meaningful activity, healthy food, and connection with nature.
As a member of Peaceful Bayside, I am committed to the goals of having a peaceful, inclusive, safe and sustainable place to live and thrive.
